Pricing & Quotes
It depends entirely on the job, which is why we always provide a written quote before starting anything. As a general guide: power points cost $150–$350, switchboard upgrades $900–$2,500, and full home rewires from $4,500. Emergency after-hours call-outs have a disclosed call-out fee. We'll always tell you the number before we come out — no surprises when the invoice arrives.
Yes — and we'll tell you exactly what it is before we come out, so you can decide if you want to proceed. We don't hide it in the fine print or bundle it into the labour rate after the fact. Standard business-hours call-out fee is disclosed when you book. After-hours and emergency rates are higher and will be clearly stated when you call.
Always, without exception. The quote is fixed-price — not an estimate, not a range, not "around that plus materials." If something unexpected comes up during the job that changes the scope, we stop work, explain what we found, and get your written approval before continuing. You are never presented with a bill that's higher than the quote without your prior approval.
For standard jobs like power points, ceiling fans, or smoke alarms, yes — we can give you a firm price over the phone or via the quote calculator on our contact page. For more complex work like rewires or switchboard replacements, we prefer to do a quick site visit first so we can quote accurately. We don't give vague price ranges designed to get us through the door — that's not how we operate.
We accept cash, bank transfer (EFT), credit card, and EFTPOS. For standard jobs, payment is due on completion. For larger projects, we'll agree on a deposit and progress payment schedule upfront. We don't ask for full payment before the job is complete.
Availability & Bookings
For emergencies, we aim to be on-site within 60 minutes anywhere between Palm Beach and Manly. For standard non-urgent bookings, we typically have availability within 1–3 business days. Same-day service is often available for urgent non-emergency work — call and we'll tell you honestly what we can do. We confirm appointments the day before and call when we're 30 minutes away.
We work Saturdays 8am–2pm for standard jobs. We don't do standard bookings on Sundays, but our emergency line operates 24/7 every day of the year — including public holidays. If it's a genuine emergency on a Sunday, call us and we'll come.
Honestly — read our Google reviews. 214 of them. The consistent theme across every single one is "turned up on time." We confirm the booking the day before. We call when we're 30 minutes away. If something genuinely unavoidable comes up (accidents, emergencies from a previous job), we call you immediately rather than just not showing. It sounds basic — because it is. We just actually do it.
Licensing & Safety
Yes. All our electricians hold current NSW Electrical Contractor Licences and we carry full public liability insurance and workers compensation coverage. Our contractor licence number is EC000000 — verify it yourself at fairtrading.nsw.gov.au. We encourage this. Any electrician who won't give you their licence number should be an immediate red flag.
In NSW, electrical work must be performed by a licensed electrician — this is the law, not just our opinion. Even tasks that look simple involve live wiring that can kill. Beyond the safety risk: unlicensed electrical work voids your home insurance, can prevent you from selling your property, and carries significant fines. Please don't do it.
Yes, for all notifiable electrical work we issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety (also called a Compliance Certificate). This is required by NSW law and documents that the work was completed to Australian Standards. Keep it — you'll need it when selling your property and it protects you if there's ever an insurance dispute.
Yes — and it's worth taking seriously. Ceramic (or "rewirable") fuse boards were standard until the 1980s but are now considered a significant safety risk. They don't have safety switches (RCDs), which means there's no protection against electrocution or many types of fault. They're also a common cause of electrical fires. A switchboard upgrade is typically $900–$1,500 and it's one of the best investments you can make in an older Northern Beaches home.
Solar & EV
It genuinely depends on your usage, roof orientation, and the system size. On the Northern Beaches, a well-designed 6.6kW system typically reduces electricity bills by $1,200–$2,000 per year. We won't give you a number that sounds good to get a sale — we'll model your actual usage and give you a realistic projection. If the numbers don't stack up for your situation, we'll tell you.
Most residential solar installations are completed in a single day. Systems with battery storage may take 1–2 days. We handle all the paperwork — Ausgrid grid connection application, council approvals, metering arrangements — so you don't have to. Your system is typically live within 5–10 business days of installation.
We're brand-neutral and recommend based on your car, your usage pattern, and whether you have solar. Popular options include the Tesla Wall Connector (excellent for Tesla owners), Wallbox (great app, good value), and Zappi (ideal if you have or plan to install solar — it uses excess solar to charge your car). Most home EV charger installs take 2–4 hours and start at $950 all-inclusive.
General
Our primary service area is Palm Beach to Manly — this is where we're based and where we can guarantee our response times. For commercial projects or larger residential jobs, we occasionally work further afield. Call us and we'll tell you honestly whether it makes sense for us to come to you or recommend someone closer.
We take on small jobs. A broken power point, a non-working light, a ceiling fan installation — these are all worth doing properly. We do have a minimum call-out fee that's disclosed when you book, so for very small jobs it's worth bundling a few things together to make the visit worthwhile. Just mention everything when you call and we can sort it all in one trip.
We'd genuinely rather spend two minutes answering your question than have you book someone else because you weren't sure. No hard sell. No pressure.
